Egyptian Prime Minister holds discussions with his Nigerien counterpart

nazifAPA- Cairo (Egypt) Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif met on Tuesday with Nigerien Prime Minister, Ali Badjo Gamatié who is currently on an official visit to Egypt.

Egypt is keen and ready to offer technical assistance and expertise to sister African countries, said Nazif in statement issued in Cairo after the meeting. Nazif added that Egypt was ready to contribute to boosting development efforts in the African continent.

The Nigerien Prime Minister conveyed a message from President Mamadou Tandja of Niger to President Hosni Mubarak on bilateral relations between the two countries. Nazif said that Egypt has provided technical assistance to Niger in fields of education and health, in addition to providing scholarships to students from Niger to study in Egyptian universities. He noted that Al Azhar University was cooperating with Niger.

He said that a joint committee set up between Egypt and Niger will meet this year, and the two countries will discuss during the meeting ways of boosting bilateral ties in the light of many opportunities for cooperation between them.
